Hi, welcome to my blog where I talk about my latest creations, what I have been up to lately and anything in the wonderful world of vintage and handmade jewellery, oh and occasionally other crazy things I happen to find.

Archive for April, 2011

I hope you all had a lovely Easter and bank holiday if you were lucky enough not to be at work! Today I have been spending a little bit of time sorting through some of my handmade jewellery photographs on Flickr. If you don’t know what Flickr is you should take a look. You can find lots of brilliant photographs that people have uploaded and it’s a great way to show off some of your favourite photos! As I was going trough some of my older designs I realised that I have made lots and lots of charm bracelets. I must admit that they are one of my favourite pieces of jewellery to make and I never seem to tire of making them and you guys seem to like them, so every ones a winner!

Here are just a few of my designs…

A trip to Chester Zoo!

Mark and I went on a trip to Chester Zoo on Thursday. I have to say it really was a fantastic day out, we enjoyed every minute! As we entered the Zoo we happened to be right on time for the Elephants having a bath, there were two little baby Elephants who were just a delight to watch! They seemed to be really enjoying being in the water as it was such a hot day and were even having a little play as they rolled around in the pool!

We also managed to see some really cute penguins who were playfully swimming about in the water. Luckily we managed to hear some interesting Penguin facts and how Chester Zoo is helping them survive and witness them being fed! Penguins are some of my favourite animals, it’s amazing how fast they can move especially went there are fish to be eaten!

After all the recent Meerkat hype I was really excited that we got to see some at Chester Zoo. I really couldn’t believe how tiny they are! This little fellow was perched on top of this mound looking out for the rest of his family!

One of my other favourite Chester Zoo experiences had to be the Butterfly Journey. You get to wonder around with some really beautiful exotic butterflies flying around you. I would have spent all day in there if I cold have! A word of a warning though do check yourself before you leave the butterfly journey as one had landed on Mark’s T-shirt and was quite happily sat there for a while. He did fly away before we left though!

We even managed to see a few living Dinosaurs!

Of course a visit to the Zoo is not complete without seeing some of the magnificent cats, unfortunately as it was so hot the Lions and Tigers were too busy lazying out of full view for us but we did manage to snap this impressive Cheetah who was quite content basking in the sun shine!

Another amazing part of the day was going through the bat tunnel which has lots and lots of fruit bats flying about in the dark! It’s quite exciting having them flying around you and luckily as they are so great at navigating they don’t hit you so there is no need to worry about that! As it was very dark in there and to protect the poor Bat’s eyes we were not able to take any pictures as it would have scared them! We also saw some Rhinos, I couldn’t believe how big and impressive they were, they were literally built like Tanks! Amazing!

If you ever get chance to visit Chester Zoo I would really recommend it! The animals are all treated well and seem happy there and its so nice to be able to see some of the more unusual animals that you wold never normally see! I want to go back already!
